Imazethapyr 70% WG is a selective, systemic herbicide belonging to the imidazolinone group, widely used for post-emergence weed control in soybean and groundnut crops. The herbicide works by inhibiting the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme, disrupting protein synthesis and halting plant growth. For optimal results, it should be applied when weeds are at the 2–3 leaf stage, using a foliar spray mixed with a surfactant and ammonium sulfate. Its residual action ensures long-term control, including weeds that emerge days after application. Users should wear protective gear during handling and avoid mixing with bare hands to prevent skin and eye irritation.
